Welcome to Crash Media - an independent publication with a split personality. Crash Media is (looking at) independent media [around the world]. Crash Media is produced irratically [in Salford / London / Vienna] as a tabloid newspaper and as often as you like online. This publication is made by you and for you gratis. There are multiple possibilities for contribution. The Crash Media version on this CD-ROM only contains contributions previously printed in the tabloid, and none of the online discussion threads. Find information on media activism - and the many ends to which the tools of production can be turned. However, if you are cynical about the wide spread armchair activism - test run your concerns here. EXTRA SPECIAL This section contains longer features on varying topics. See the Print Section for details on the current debate. If you would like to place a longer piece and don't feel comfortable within the outlines of the sections we've set up - Extra Special is the one for you... UNDER THE NEEDLE Some might call this the music section - we don't intend to narrow it down that much. Theoretical approaches to sound, the DIY ethos of sampling, digi-theft in the soundgarden, how to mix and stream, where to get what and WHY? many more questions might arise as we slip Under The Needle. STRANGEWAYS Quite self-explanatory... home of the weird and challenging. Strangeways is open for the unexpected! CULTURE CLUB Meet the radio-ravers, video-holics, net-knitters, list-luvvies and televisionaries in their natural habitats. ACCESS DENIED The question of access is not as simple as 'not being allowed in'. Ranging from the availability of media access to the excluding policies of the European Fortress, Access Denied should be used for statements, observations, action alert, suggestions and contacts - counteracting the silence of exclusion. BALZAC NATION Literature... what else is there to say? Yes, given the structure of the thread based environement we use, Balzac Nation mainly features essays and short narratives.
