"Research-Station" by Ramon Haze at the Hybrid Workspace/Dokumenta X/Kassel

One of the most interesting and most exciting presentations at the Hybrid Workspace was the "Research-Station" by Ramon Haze, initiallized by the artist-group Ramon Haze, in person Piotr Baran, Holmer Feldmann and Andresa Grahl, technically supported by Jean-Phillip Ihle, Bettina Reichmuth and Anne Vogel.

Since about 2 years the group is running the total installation "Der Schrank" ("The Cabinet") at their home and workspace, an old factory at Leipzig. Actually "Der Schrank" is the private art collection of the "art-detecitve" Ramon Haze, who lives and workes in the upcoming cultural epoch. He collects objects of art from our downfallen cultural era, examing the pieces after artistic, art-historic, social as well as political points of views.

At the "Research-Station" by Ramon Haze at Kassel the visitors were invited to participate at the examination of art objects as well as to report own new found material. In the center of the room a person was documenting these reports. An old desk and a closet filled with artworks framed the scene.

At the right and more open part of the room a guided tour through "Der Schrank" and dokumentation on video "Die Sammlung des Kapitän Wickelmann" ("The Collection of Captain Wickelmann") were projected by video-beamer. At the same time at the left side of the workspace Piotr Baran performed "Suco di Media", a digital-analogue music and video improvisation. On top of that video-material of "Massdart - a false fiction of documetary purpose", taped and edited at the Dokumeta X exhibtion was integrated into the "Suco di Media" works.


The project - consiting of three pieces - combined works about past, present and future and its cultural values.


PS: The scientific documentation of art-detecitv Ramon Haze will be out as book "Der Schrank" in June 1999.

Die "Forschungsstation" von Ramon Haze im Hybrid Workspace/Documenta X/Kassel - german -

Eine der interessantesten und gelungensten Präsentationen im Hybrid Workspace war die "Forschungsstation" von Ramon Haze. Sie wurde inszeniert von der gleichnamigen Künstlergruppe R.Haze, bestehend aus Piotr Baran, Holmer Feldmann und Andresa Grahl, in Kassel technisch unterstützt von Jean-Phillip Ihle, Bettina Reichmuth und Anne Vogel. Die Gruppe betreibt seit ungefähr 2 Jahren in ihrem Leipziger Domizil, einer alten Fabrik, die Totalinstallation "Der Schrank". Hinter diesem Titel verbirgt sich die Kunstsammlung des Kunstdedektivs Ramon Haze, der in der nächsten Kulturepoche lebt und arbeitet. Er sammelt seine Kunstobjekte aus unserer untergegangenen Kulturepoche und untersucht sie nach künstlerischen, kunstgeschichtlichen, gesellschaftlichen bzw. politischen Werten.

In der "Forschungsungsstation" von Ramon Haze in Kassel wurden die Besucher aufgefordert, an dieser Untersuchung teilzunehmen oder auch eigene Fundstücke zu melden. Dies wurde im mittleren Teil des Raumes protokolliert. Ein alter Schreibtisch und ein Schrank mit Kunstwerken aus der Haze-Sammlung dienten dazu als Requisiten. Im rechten offen gehaltenen Teil des Raumes wurden eine "Schrank"-Führung und eine vor Ort entstandene Videodokumentation "Die Sammlung des Kapitän Wickelmann" grossflächig projeziert. Anachronistisch dazu flankierte Piotr Baran im linken Teil des Raumes "Suco di Media", eine digital-analoge Musik-Video-Improvisation. Ausserdem wurde Massdart als eine "falsche Fiktion mit dokumentarischen Zwecken" in der Räumen der X. Dokumenta gefilmt - das Filmmaterial wurde in "Suco di Media" integriert.

Das dreiteilig angelegte Projekt vereinte die Arbeit mit Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft und deren kulturellen Werten.
