http://www.yourserver.co.uk/crashmedia/luchezar.jpgThis project is based on two aspects:
- The constantly frustrated desires of an artist (L.B.) to become a classic long before its/his time... And also on his desire to make his work available to a far wider audience than he can possibly wish for at this stage of his career... And also on his desire to have his work seen in the most distinguished museum contexts - let's say next to the Mona Lisa in the Louvre.
- The background of involvement with computers in the country he comes from, namely Bulgaria. In socialist times before 1989, Bulgaria was given the task of developing computers within the industrial context of the Sotz Camp. As a result, there were a lot of highly professional computer specialists, mainly programmers (and still are). However, due to ideological reasons, they were not allowed to work on their own programs, instead they had to break down other people's programs in order to make them usable (mainly stolen software from the West). Nevertheless, the programmers wanted to have their work seen in a wider context. Working out of frustration, they created computer viruses that can 'travel' anywhere in the world. Their 'work' was made 'available' to all.
Logistics: At least two photographic works of the artist (L.B.) are digitised in the JPEG format (address see image). Then the images are implanted in the websites of as many world famous art museums as possible with the help of friendly hackers. Imagine - you are visiting the website of the Louvre Museum, you leisurely browse through the gallery where the Mona Lisa can be seen... You zoom in on the Mona Lisa.... Magnificent! Then you move the cursor to the right and there it is - the Self-portrait with 2.5 kg of 12.5 cm Long Nails by Luchezar Boyadjiev!!! Objectives: The artist infiltrates eternity (the museum) albeit in a virtual kind of way. But then again, isn't eternity just a concept? The penetration is possible for only a short period of time since, to the best of my knowledge, such websites are cleaned up automatically on a weekly basis. That's why a synchronised penetration of at least 12-15 museum website is needed. Ethics: The audience will no doubt be enriched for it will be getting more art than it wished for at the end. Note: Assistance from friendly hackers has already been made available to the artist. the image can be found at: http://www.yourserver.co.uk/crashmedia/luchezar.jpg
